Henry McFerren was born May 26, 1811.  Died April 8, 1896, aged 83 years, 10 months and 12 days.  He married Catharine Hardman, Oct. 25, 1835, who passed on before him seventeen years ago.  They were both of Bedford Co., Pa. and came to Ohio, near Darlington, Richland County, in 1841, where they always lived till death.

They were both members of the Church of Christ for a number of years and held their membership with the congregation known as Perry.

Bro. McFerren's faith was unwavering.  To him the Holy Bible was the end of all controversy, and he loved to hear its message told.  It was his trusted counselor and his great solace and comfort in life, his rod and his staff, in suffering, and his joy and hope that sustained him in his last hours.

One sister in Shelby, O., aged about 80 years, and one brother in Pennsylvania, about 87 years old, still survive him, together with 2 sons, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  Three years ago he said to the writer "I am ready to take my departure" and I wish the time was near at hand".  He longed for the "rest that remaineth for the people of God" and to behold the King in his beauty, and to meet with his companion and friends who had long since gone on before.  "Fore" sad he "I feel like a lone tree with my companions all gone."

Funeral services were conducted by C.S. Cliffe.
